Vocational Nursing Pay

Any profession deserves a decent payment since no matter how small or big your responsibilities are, the whole system won’t function without your contribution. In the medical field, there are vocational nurses who are starting to grow in number because of the many employment opportunities awaiting each candidate. In job application, the salary is a major factor that affects the decision of a professional whether to apply or not for a certain position. Therefore, the issue of salary grade must be discussed in order for a candidate to know what he or she can expect to get. Many professionals fail to do research on the factors to be considered in determining an ideal salary for their position thus making them fall to a substandard wage..

Vocational nurses are members of the medical team that works under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses. They perform bedside care, take vital signs and perform patient monitoring among others. The salary grade of vocational nurses depends on the institution as well as their length of experience. The average salary for a vocational nurse is Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 1000. Experienced vocational nurses deserve a bigger salary offer because they need less training as well as supervision. In the field of nursing, skills are developed through time of exposure to the work. The longer your tenure is, the more expert you get.

For vocational nurses who are just starting, they should expect a minimum salary as well as the benefits that the institution offers. This is the time for them to develop their skills so that they can later negotiate for a higher wage. An experienced vocational nurse can negotiate a higher wage depending on the agencies policy upon signing a contract of employment. The salary to be offered must be commensurate to the length of a candidate’s experience in this field of work.

Most institutions ask their applicants for vocational nurse to name the salary that they expect to get. This is then validated with their work experience in order to justify a candidates expected salary rate. Of course, those candidates who have had ample years of experience doing vocational nursing job are expected to go for a higher pay. Candidates who are just about to start with their career in vocational nursing are most likely to mention the lowest salary grade that is expected in the field.

Vocational nurses who have been in the same company for a long period of time are expected to have bigger salaries. These people are most likely to stick with their institutions for a longer period of time for various reasons. Salary can vary also between vocational nurses who are employed by the government and those who are employed in private institutions. Aside from that, the size or level of the facility where a candidate will be working can also tell the salary that he/she must expect. The difference lies in the load of work, the facilities available and the number of patients that a certain institution can accommodate.

Nursing and Computers

In this modern world, nursing students get to enjoy the benefits of computer technology. Nursing as a medical study is a very challenging course and only those who are diligent enough can make it successfully. As a nursing student, you have to deal with school requirements like nursing care plans, drug studies and case studies among others. These are just some of the few hurdles that nursing students need to overcome in order to get a degree in nursing. But then again, the genesis of computers has made these tasks a lot easier to do. Students are now enjoying a more convenient student life and more time for personal things can be allotted because of the help of computers. Below are some of the benefits brought by computers in the life of nursing students:

·         Students get to use a notebook computer at school for taking down notes as well as saving files related to a certain subject. This saves the student from jotting down notes on a sheet of paper or a notebook which takes a lot of effort and time. A notebook computer is easier to carry and can store a whole bunch of information in just one sitting.

·         Using computers made it easier for students to make paperwork since computers are very user-friendly and files are easily retrieved and edited. With computers, a student can choose to print a file right there and then and produce as much number if copies as needed. In doing a report, a student need not worry of committing grammatical errors since data processing applications have the capability of checking the spelling and grammar of a certain article or work.

·         The onset of the Internet made information related to nursing or medicine available in just one click. A student can use search engines in doing research about various topics. There is a decreasing need to go to libraries and scan through books because everything is almost available in the Internet. Also, the benefits that email technology offers make it easier for students to share files so that a faster and more accurate consolidation of their researches can be done.

·         During case presentations, computers can be used as audio-visual aids to promote better presentation of data and facts. Students can even play videos related to the topic that they are presenting giving way to a more detailed presentation. Instructors are giving higher grades because the way of presenting a nursing case is a lot more flexible and everything can be integrated without so much hassle.

These are just some of the few advantages brought by computers in nursing studies. Computers, in general, have made a student’s life a lot more convenient. Thus, nowadays, institutions and educators are expecting more from the students due to the fact that research is not that hard to do anymore. The use of computers have also made the pacing of classroom discussions a lot faster because students’ understanding of various topics is a lot faster. In the end, computers can only be beneficial if students make use of them in the right way.

Neonatal Nursing

Neonatal nursing involves the delivery of nursing care to newborns up to 28 days. It is another filed of nursing that is full of challenges. Many nurses consider this field especially to those who are interested with neonates. As a challenging field, before a nurse considers being a neonatal nurse, he/she must be able to meet the minimum qualifications depending on the policy of an institution. Just like adult and elderly care, this field of nursing deals with life and calls for a professional who has a heart for taking care of sick individuals.

Patients in the neonatal unit have diagnoses that range from very mild to severe cases. Whichever case a nurse is assigned to, a very vigilant attitude must be assumed because neonates are very unstable thus needing a closer look and monitoring. A critical nurse must also be well versed in the most important part of nursing which is the assessment part. It is in the assessment that a nurse bases his/her interventions. A clinical eye for assessment must be developed so that proper interventions will be done. And with proper interventions, a very favourable outcome will be achieved.

There are nursing procedures that are done only in the neonatal care setting. These are procedures that ensure that a neonate will be able to adapt to the environment outside the mother’s womb. Maintaining an environment that is similar to the mother’s womb is a major concern in neonatal nursing. For example, a newborn must not be exposed to a very cold temperature because for nine months they stayed in the mother’s womb where temperature is warm.

Medicating a neonate is also a challenge because they cannot take an oral medicine. Neonates take medication via intravenous route thus necessitating an access. With the built of neonates, inserting an intravenous cannula can be very challenging and neonates even though they may not complain of pain, still they feel the same pain that adults feel. Sometimes the issue of pain among neonates is taken for granted since they cannot do any other thing other than to cry in order to react to pain. Medications are given with much precaution because a neonate’s system is very sensitive. Referral to a physician for any untoward findings is also one of the responsibilities that a neonatal nurse must perform. A neonatal nurse must be able to tell which behaviours of a neonate are normal and which are abnormal.

This growing field of neonatal care calls for nursing students to consider such an exciting world. In this field, keen senses that must be present in a nurse will be developed because infants are not capable of complaining but it is the nurse’s assessment that will be able to speak for the patient. This thing, again, is what we call the clinical eye of a nurse, an eye that can look beyond the signs that can be seen in a patient. This, I believe, is the real essence of nursing, being able to make the right assessment.

Emergency Nursing, Anyone?

Nursing as a profession is not only limited to a hospital practice. It is a profession that can be performed even in the forest, in the seas or even on highways. One very exciting area of nursing is Critical Care Transport (CCT) nursing, a field of nursing that takes care of transporting emergency cases to hospital facilities either by air or by land transport. It is a field of nursing that is full of adrenaline rush yet very satisfying.

CCTRNs are registered nurses who work in a critical care transport facility. These are nurses who provide care for emergency patients and bring them to the nearest hospital facility through an ambulance. This field of nursing is s breath taking one since the cases that CCTRNs encounter are of various nature, from heart attacks to vehicular accidents. Thus, a critical care transport nurse is someone who is expert in providing the immediate intervention for the patient to reach the hospital alive and be seen by a physician for more advance and intensive medical life-saving intervention.

It is said that transport nursing isn’t just about providing medical care but it is also about providing a safe environment for the patient during transport to a health facility. A patient undergoing an emergency experiences extreme panic attack which calls for the nurse to offer an environment that will make the patient feel secured thus relieving the anxiety and pain a patient feels at that very moment.

CCTRNs undergo a special training and continuing education that will help develop their stamina and their clinical eye that is very useful in emergency cases. During emergency, a nurse cannot put much time on assessment thus a very keen sense of sight is very important in visually assessing the patient. Shock is one of the most critical cases that must be watched out for by CCTRNs. Detecting if a patient is about to undergo shock needs a keen assessment thus as a nurse, a very vigilant attitude must be assumed by a CCT nurse.

Along the way of transporting the patient to the health facility, a CCTRN has the responsibility to observe note down the changes in the condition of the patient. This is side to side with providing the basic interventions like medicine and intravenous fluids. This career calls for an individual to be skilled in multitasking and doing everything with accuracy despite the urgency of each action taken.

Attitude-wise, a nurse in CCT must be able to empathize to the patient and also to the patient’s family. A distressed patient is most likely to ask many questions and it is in the way that the nurse answers that this patient will understand his/her emergency situation. In this way, it promotes participation so that nursing interventions can easily and successfully be implemented.

This field of CCT nursing is a growing field thus it is calling for more nurses to consider the profession. It is another avenue for nurses to offer their services to a community that health emergencies can always happen anytime and anywhere.

What to do With A Traffic Ticket?

In every society, there are tons of laws and regulations that are to be followed in order to maintain peace and order. From the moment we step out of our homes we are already bombarded with laws and regulations that if we fail to follow, will bring us into trouble. For one, we have these traffic rules that we must religiously abide with because this is how order is maintained in the city streets. Without such rules, then expect that the downtown roads will be a big mess. But, what happens you haven’t paid your traffic ticket?

This is a big problem, isn’t it? Some people are lucky enough to have the resources to pay for their tickets but for some, this is a major disaster. After all you underwent a seminar on the traffic laws and regulations and passed the written and practical examination just to make sure that you will be an educated driver. You did not get your license for nothing but you got it because you showed competence and skills of a driver worthy of that license.

Not being able to pay your traffic ticket for whatever reason will bring you into one common thing, trouble. The consequences that you need to face range from simply paying extra charges to spending hours or even days in jail, waiting for somebody to bail you out. You see, it only gets worse when you forget or simply avoid paying your ticket. The rule here is to be honest and pay what you owe to the government.

You can never get out of this trouble if you don’t pay such violation ticket. Your records will show if you transact a business with the government agency that handles this case. Please do not wait for your car to be pulled over and be impounded because this will really keep you off the track from your daily activities. One trouble leads to another disaster, sooner or later you will be reprimanded for not paying your ticket and be made to face these charges in front of the court.

When you are called to appear before any court for not paying your ticket, be sure to make it on that day or else you will be in a bigger trouble. For instances wherein you have a very valid reason for not being able to appear before the courts make sure to present a certificate or anything that will serve as a legally accepted document that will explain why you were not able to make it.

No matter what your reason is, the best thing that you need to do is to accept that you have committed such act and express your willingness to pay that ticket. After all, it is your obligation to follow the laws of the land.
